Sometimes, it can be hard to get along with your boss. You may not like the way he or she does things. You may disagree on how the department should be run. You may just have very different personalities that make it hard for the two of you to get along.
However, is this reason enough for your boss to fire you? Can you be let go just because you don’t like each other?
In a lot of cases, you absolutely can be. Experts say to be very careful with how you deal with your boss, as your job could be in jeopardy.
For example, one woman said that a new boss was brought in who did things far differently than the old boss. The woman did not agree with the new boss and would tell her that they’d have to “agree to disagree.” She simply did not want to lie and say she liked the new way of doing things.
This is a precarious situation. While saying that you’ll agree to disagree with your friends or coworkers may be fine, you can’t always do this with your boss. Even if you don’t like it, the boss is in charge, so you may have to do things his or her way, even if you don’t technically agree with it. That’s just how the structure of the workplace is set up.
Of course, your boss can’t fire you for refusing to do something that is illegal, but just not liking your boss or the boss’s ideas isn’t usually reason enough to refuse.
